Innovative Technology: Key Features of ‘Sanjay’
‘Sanjay,’ a four-legged robot, is designed to handle a variety of operations, making it a versatile asset for the Indian Army. The robot is engineered to perform tasks in challenging terrains, such as climbing stairs, navigating steep hills, and crossing obstacles. Its all-weather adaptability is one of the key features, allowing it to function in extreme conditions, ranging from temperatures as low as -40°C to as high as 55°C.
The ‘MULE’ is built to enhance military operations in numerous ways. It plays a crucial role in perimeter security, asset protection, and even in the most complex situations involving chemical, biological, or nuclear warfare. Its capabilities extend to explosives detection, disposal, intelligence gathering, and surveillance. This multi-functionality makes it an invaluable tool for the armed forces.
The robotic dogs can carry up to 15 kilograms of payload, providing a versatile and reliable means of transporting equipment in difficult environments. Currently, the Indian Army has inducted around 100 robotic dogs into various units, with ‘Sanjay’ being one of the standout models.
A Grand Parade with Cultural and Military Displays
The Republic Day celebrations in Kolkata were led by West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose, who unfurled the national flag. The parade, which featured contingents from the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, West Bengal Police, Kolkata Police, Rapid Action Force, and the Disaster Management Group, was a grand display of India’s military strength. Naib Subedar Rajneesh took the lead in guiding the parade.
Beyond the military prowess on display, the event also showcased vibrant cultural performances. Students from various schools participated in the ceremony, performing traditional dances that highlighted the cultural diversity of the region. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attended the event and expressed her pride in the occasion, reflecting on India’s enduring values of sovereignty, secularism, democracy, and federalism. In a post on X, she said, “Today, I joined the grand Republic Day parade at Red Road to celebrate 76 years of our Constitution – a living testament to the vision of an India rooted in SOVEREIGNTY, SECULARISM, DEMOCRACY, and FEDERALISM.”
West Bengal’s Tableau at Delhi’s Kartavya Path
While Kolkata’s Republic Day parade was an unforgettable sight, West Bengal’s tableau at the Kartavya Path in Delhi also attracted significant attention. The tableau showcased the state’s ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ scheme, which guarantees a monthly income for women. Additionally, the ‘Lok Prasar Prakalpa’ initiative, which celebrates West Bengal’s rich cultural heritage, architectural marvels, and artistic traditions, was highlighted. At the forefront of the tableau was a ‘Durga’ idol, accompanied by Chhau performers, adding to the cultural richness of the display.
