Amitesh Kumar Sinha appointed new CEO of India Semiconductor Mission


Amitesh Kumar Sinha has been appointed as the chief executive of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), the ISM announced on Monday. Sinha, who was earlier this month named an additional secretary at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), takes over from Sushil Pal at the ISM.This appointment comes at a crucial phase as the government is readying to launch the second phase of the India Semiconductor Mission. Sinha has been the CEO of ISM before as well.

He was also previously a joint secretary at Meity. He was responsible for policy formation and promotion of the electronics industry through various schemes, including production-linked incentive schemes, for mobiles, IT hardware, electronic components and the semiconductor industry through the Semicon India Programme.

An officer of the 1996 Indian Railway Accounts Service batch, Sinha is a graduate of civil engineering from Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering, Nagpur.
