Realme P4 Pro Review: One of the most balanced choices under ₹30,000

The Realme P4 Pro is part of Realme’s recently launched P4 series. The phone is sleek, well-designed, lightweight, and impresses at first glance with its simplicity. Featuring Birch Wood finish at the back, a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, and a 144 Hz HyperGlow AMOLED display that boasts a blinding 6,500 nits peak brightness, the smartphone ticks all the boxes of a top choice in its segment. So, is the Realme P4 Pro redefining the mid-range segment? I have with me the 12 GB/256 GB version priced at ₹28,999. Let’s find out the truth.

Design

Realme has taken a different path with the P4 Pro’s look compared with the P3 Pro. The new finish opts for tech-wood textures instead of glossy glass. The Birch Wood option I reviewed feels warm and calm in hand. It looks memorable without being loud. The back grain offers grip and hides fingerprints well, which helps the phone stay neat through a long day.

The phone is slim for a device that packs a 7,000 mAh battery. At 7.69mm and about 189g it balances size and heft well. The frame houses the usual power and volume buttons. The USB-C port and SIM tray sit where you expect them. The slim bezels and a gently curved 4D display give the front a modern, near-edge-to-edge look. The overall package reads as thoughtfully designed rather than flashy.

Realme also adds practical durability. The P4 Pro carries IP65 and IP66 level dust and splash resistance. That makes it more adventure-friendly than many rivals in this price band. Compared with the P3 Pro, the P4 Pro keeps the slim profile while bringing that premium tactile back. It is a clear design step forward for the P series.

Display

The P4 Pro’s 144 Hz HyperGlow AMOLED is the headline here. It is a 1.5K panel with 144 Hz refresh and a 10-bit colour depth. The numbers read like a flagship spec sheet. Manual brightness and peak brightness figures are unusually high; Realme claims up to 6,500 nits local peak. In daily use the screen is bright outdoors and stays punchy indoors. Colours look vibrant and natural thanks to the 100% DCI-P3 coverage and HDR10+ support.

Bezels are ultra-narrow, and the display uses high-frequency dimming for eye comfort. The jump from the P3 Pro’s panel is noticeable. Where the P3 Pro felt like a very good mid-ranger, the P4 Pro’s display feels close to a monitor. Against competitors such as the OnePlus Nord CE 5 and Nothing 3a Pro, the P4 Pro’s combination of refresh rate, colour depth, and peak brightness is a clear advantage. Gamers and media lovers will appreciate the extra smoothness and clarity.

OS and AI

The P4 Pro ships with Realme’s UI 6.0 layered over Android 16. The skin brings several AI touches that are more than novelty. Things like Circle to Search, AI Smart Loop, and an Edit Genie for voice-guided photo edits are useful for everyday tasks. The AI Edit Genie mirrors flagship features and makes quick edits feel intuitive. For content creators and students, these tools save time.

On top of software tools, Realme positions the phone as an AI-first mid-ranger. Features such as AI Recording Summary and desktop-style Smart Loop help with study and productivity. The OS is responsive, and these AI additions actually integrate into workflows rather than feeling bolted on. In short, the P4 Pro’s software package nudges the phone toward a slightly more premium user experience than typical in this price bracket.

Performance

The P4 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. This is a meaningful upgrade over the chips in many rivals. Realme highlights an Antutu score north of one million (1092180 to be precise), and the phone backs that up with smooth everyday performance. Apps open quickly, multitasking is fluid, and background apps stay alive longer than on some peers. The review unit with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage handled everything I threw at it without stutter.

Gaming is a strong suit thanks to the Hyper Vision AI chip and the dual-chip approach. Realme advertises up to 144FPS in titles like BGMI at 1.5K resolution. In real use, frame rates held steady and temperatures stayed manageable. The large 7000mm² VC vapor chamber does a lot of heavy lifting to keep performance sustained over long sessions.

Geekbench numbers for the unit read: single-core 1218, multi-core 3371, GPU score 4548. Those figures place the P4 Pro ahead of many mid-rangers such as the Nothing 3a Pro and OnePlus Nord CE 5 in raw CPU and GPU throughput. The iQOO Neo 10R leans more gaming-first, but the P4 Pro competes well thanks to intelligent thermal design and the Hyper Vision assist. The real-world result is smooth scrolling, fast load times, and dependable gaming.

Realme offers other memory trims too. There’s an 8 GB + 128 GB option at ₹24,999 and an 8 GB + 256 GB at ₹26,999. For heavy users the 12 GB/256 GB review variant is the sensible pick. Storage is ample and feels future-proof for apps and media.

Camera

Realme moved up the ladder by fitting a 50 MP Sony IMX890 main camera with OIS on the rear. The P4 Pro also sports a 50 MP front shooter, unusual in this range plus an ultrawide module. The camera stack feels flagship-oriented on paper and that shows in photos. Daytime images are sharp and well-detailed. Contrast management is good, and colours remain close to natural without being overly saturated.

AI features like AI Landscape and AI Party Mode make shooting simpler. Landscapes pop with better dynamic range. Party Mode helps retain highlights in tricky lighting. Portraits from the rear camera have good subject separation and realistic skin tones. The phone handles edge detection well in most scenarios.

Low-light performance is improved over the P3 Pro. Night shots retain colour and show less noise than rivals in this segment. The IMX890 sensor combined with image processing produces clearer shadows and brighter highlights. Night portraits are usable with decent detail. Overall, low-light results are among the better ones you’ll get under ₹30,000.

Selfies are crisp and flattering. The 50 MP front sensor captures fine detail and preserves skin tone without over-processing. Group selfie shots also come out well thanks to wider framing and good edge handling. Overall, Realme has elevated the P4 Pro’s imaging credentials considerably.

Battery

As mentioned above, the P4 Pro packs a huge 7,000 mAh battery. In mixed usage the phone comfortably lasts a full day and often reaches the end of the second day with light use. Charging is 80W Ultra Charge. The phone hits around 50% in roughly 25 minutes and tops up fast without excessive heat. Compared with competitors, the P4 Pro balances battery life and charge speed better than most. The 10W reverse charging is a neat bonus for topping up earbuds or a watch.

Verdict

Realme P4 Pro is definitely a strong competitor in its segment with its refreshing looks and design. The Birch Wood finish and durable build make it stand out. Its crisp and super bright display, efficient chip, and camera upgrades are real and meaningful. Battery life and charging round off the package. For P3 Pro users the P4 Pro is a sensible successor; it brings display, imaging, and sustained-performance improvements that justify an upgrade. Against rivals such as the OnePlus Nord CE 5, Nothing 3a Pro, and iQOO Neo 10R, the P4 Pro is one of the most balanced choices under ₹30,000.
