Launched in the presence of Olympic Gold Medallist Abhinav Bindra, the initiative seeks to foster innovation and creativity in education by integrating technology into teaching. It aims to equip educators with the skills needed for modern classrooms through recurring in-person and online learning events. Samsung’s efforts focus on helping teachers adapt to evolving technologies and teaching methods to better prepare students for the future.
“Galaxy Empowered” extends its impact beyond educators by helping schools adopt innovative teaching methods and technology-driven learning environments. This approach enhances their reputation and positions them as forward-thinking institutions within the community. The program is also free for both teachers and schools, ensuring access to valuable educational resources without financial constraints.
Since December 2024, over 2,700 teachers across India have received certifications through live training sessions under the “Galaxy Empowered” initiative. The program aims to support 20,000 teachers nationwide by 2025. In Delhi, it has already been implemented in 250 schools. For the initial phase, Samsung has collaborated with Mahattattva Educational Advisory and STTAR, with specialized trainers and academicians guiding teachers throughout the program.
“Galaxy Empowered” is structured around three main components:
- Technology Upskilling: The program offers flexible online training sessions, physical bootcamps, and a comprehensive library of resources to help teachers integrate digital tools into their classrooms, such as gamification strategies, interactive apps, and virtual classrooms.
- Hands-On Training and Certification: Educators have access to workshops, mentorship, and certification opportunities to enhance their skills. The program also provides resources for curriculum and content design, along with guidance on educator well-being.
- Collaboration and Networking: Participants become part of a community of educators, gaining access to peer-to-peer networking, industry experts, and thought leadership in education through panels and keynote sessions.
Additionally, Samsung offers special discounts on products like smartphones, tablets, laptops, and consumer electronics to educators and school leaders participating in the program. Benefits include extended warranties, free insurance, and access to exclusive deals.
“Galaxy Empowered” is a free program for educators and schools, providing resources for professional development and educational advancement. By equipping teachers with modern skills and tools, it aims to enhance the capabilities of educators and institutions across India.
Dhruv Mohan from The Economic Times also had a chat with OIympian Abhinav Bindra who was present at the event. When asked about the implementation of AI in sports and education Mr. Bindra shared his insights.
“I think AI can help in democratizing sports to a great degree and make access more available and knowledge more accessible”
“AI is also playing a big role in performance assessment in sports and talent identification as well.”
However, he also vouched for human intervention.
“We must not forget that sports like everything else in many aspects of life is human endeavor, and we must not forget we are dealing with human beings. So the human element and the human touch will always be needed, so striking an appropriate balance between technology and leveraging technology to empower is way to go. But we must remember the human element of each endeavor.”
